SCHEUERLE: “LET’S BE RID OF THIS MONKEY!”

Toowoomba’s own Andrew Scheuerle is tired of laughing-off the misfortune at his home track and is determined to get the monkey off his back this weekend in the Will Power 500.

The two time Queensland champion feels the same misfortune that has plagued Will Power on the world stage this season has found its way to the Ausdeck/IBRP.com #Q25, leaving Scheuerle seething that he can’t have a clean run at his home track.

“I’ve watched Will’s heartbreak this year in Indycar and really felt for him, because he’s had the worst luck of anyone in that series,” Scheuerle said. “He could have been the Indycar Champion four times if it wasn’t for stupid little things going wrong, and I feel like we’ve had a similar story in the Ausdeck team every time we race at Toowoomba. It’s just crazy!”

“We’ve had great car speed and qualified well but just had strange things happen, so hopefully this weekend we can put it all behind us and we can show the home crowd what we can do!”

Scheuerle was optimistic not just about his racing form, but also the size of the crowd for the event, which is billed as “Ultimate Pink Night” where women of all ages are free as they turn the speedway pink, “to help drive out breast cancer.”

“Pink Night last year was massive with one of the biggest crowds the venue has ever had in its 40 year history, and with my personal connection to the disease, it certainly means a lot more than a regular race meeting, and then you add to it the Will Power 500 factor and it really makes it an event that everyone wants to win,” Scheuerle said.
