FORD FANS OFFENDED BY ENTRY LIST

Ford fans across the Darling Downs region have come out swinging in defence of their beloved “Blue Oval” after the entry list has been released for the New Years Speed Demo Derby.

The 11 car list is almost a completely Ford powered field, offending die-hard fans of “Henry’s Finest” who believe that using the marque for a Demolition Derby is an insult.

“I’ve been a Ford Fan my whole life,” says Toowoomba Speedway push-car driver, Shane Gundry.

“My family have driven Fords for generations, and to see them intentionally wrecked breaks my heart,” Shane said, with his tongue firmly in his cheek.

Les Thompson echoed Shane’s thoughts, claiming that he’s prepared to walk away from his role as Chief Flag Marshall in protest for the “over-use of Fords for intentional wreckage.”

“I’m very saddened by this line up and to see so many XF wagons about to be sent to the slaughter is devastating.”

Chief Fire Marshall for Hi-Tec Oils Speedway, Peter Ford had a different take on the matter however, claiming that the high population of Fords in the list is a testament to how reliable they are.

“You know why there’s only one Holden? Because they’ve already stopped and are at the wrecking yards! The Fords we have in the Demo Derby are true survivors and proof that they are the most reliable car in Australia.”

The lone Holden in the nominations belongs to Logan’s Nathan Turner who was salivating the thought of punishing The General’s greatest enemy.

“I’ve run Holdens my whole life and wouldn’t drive anything else and I can’t wait to obliterate the Fords. I don’t feel outnumbered. The way I see it is that no matter which direction I drive, I’m going to hit a Ford and nothing gives me more satisfaction!”

The Demo Derby is part of “New Years Speed” that also features Freestyle Motocross, Fireworks, and the Super Sedan Summer Slam. Tickets are available at the gate from 3pm or right now at speedwaytickets.com.au.
