LAP RECORD TUMBLES AT IBRP SPORTSMAN EVENT

The second IBRP.com Sportsman Event at Hi-Tec Oils Speedway dodged a weather bullet on Saturday Night, and produced a very fast racetrack that yielded a new track record.

A solid field of AMCA Nationals embraced the wide racetrack and delivered outstanding racing all night, with Matt Nardy setting a new lap record of 15.595 to claim the feature over Steve Potts and Russ Hardy.

A surprise seven car field of Modified Sedans that originally set out for practice sessions decided to go into full race mode, with reigning national champion Matty Smith claiming the feature over and impressive Lee Volk and Peter White.

Street Stocks welcomed a number of late nominations after the disappointing cancellation at Gympie, with Toowoomba Topgun Ben Langton making the trip to the Hi-Tec Hi-Banks very worthwhile with a great win over Travis Hutchinson and Peter Thompson.

The Junior Sedans also had a crack field that delivered a feature win for Brisbane’s Ardie Jonic over Hayden Brims and Jordan Cunningham.

The super smooth racetrack conditions were perfect for the Microsprints with Shane Munro dominating over Jason Glynn and Julian Olley.

Legend Cars also laid down some very quick demonstration laps while the Stockcars returned to the venue for the first time in three seasons, and were brutally locked in battle to deliver a bone crunching feature win for Mark Strachan ahead of Graeme Rangeihuna and Jeremy Hemi.

The next event is the rescheduled Ultimate Pink Night on December 16 with all women of all ages and kids 12 and under Free!
