Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway has delivered an impressive mix of new and established events for the 2016/17 calendar, including the return of World Series Sprintcars for the first time in six years!
The freshly renovated venue will host 11 events between the season-opening Ultimate Sprintcar Championship Queensland round (the first of eight USC rounds) on September 24 and the Grand Final on Good Friday, April 14.
The highly successful ‘Ultimate Pink Night’ which drew over 3500 people last season to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and welcomed all women for free, will return on the first weekend of November and will also host the second annual Will Power 500 – a USC race in honour of Will Power, Toowoomba’s very own Indycar World Champion. Reigniting a successful concept of the past, the New Years Eve Family Spectacular will also return, featuring the Super Sedan Super Tour, Freestyle MotoX and Fireworks.
The Speedway will potentially host five state titles including Ultimate Sprintcars and Super Sedans, with three other divisions in final negotiations, as well as the second running of the popular ‘TBar 50 Lapper’ for Modified Sedans.
The second half of the season will house two new concept nights, including the ‘Ultimate Footy Fan Night’ in February where all spectators will receive a discount simply by wearing their favourite footy jersey to the event. Additionally, there will be more offer-based promotions throughout the season.
Events Manager, Ben Bishop was very excited by the calendar and is confident the speedway will experience growth this season with an intention to build upon an outstanding second half of last season.
“The first half of last season had all the challenges that you’d expect and more, but after the dust had settled from $2 million in renovations, we really hit our straps for the last six events and were really able to showcase just how different we run speedway events in Toowoomba and how much fun they can be. The speedway game has definitely changed!”
