UNFAMILIAR TERRITORY FOR VEAL AT TOOWOOMBA

Labelled as the hottest speedway racer in Australia currently, Warrnambool’s Jamie Veal has mastered just about every major racetrack in the nation, however the freshly crowned World Series Sprintcars Champion will head to Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway this Saturday for the first ever!

Toowoomba will host the USC Queensland Grand Final this weekend, with the final outing doubling as the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship Chase round, and in the hunt for the $30,000 first place, Veal will be have to come to terms with the unfamiliar territory on the Hi-Tec high banks to maintain his series lead.

“I’ve been to a heap of tracks in America last year that I’ve never seen before so I’m not too intimidated by not seeing Toowoomba prior to this weekend, but everyone tells me it’s really race and I seem to go well on high banked tracks so I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.

Many in the speedway community refer to Toowoomba as a ”mini Warrnambool” and that’s music to the ears of Veal, who is the only person to circulate around the Victorian track in under ten seconds.

“I think we’re in with a really good shot actually, as I really like these sorts of tracks, but then everyone else in the field has run there before so they may have an edge.”

Veal will be joined by a stellar field, including three-time Australian champion, Robbie Farr, two-time national champion David Murcott, and two-time national and World Series champion, James McFadden.

Joining the Ultimate Sprintcars will be the second and final appearance of the V8 Super Sedans at Toowoomba for the season, as well as the very popular Legend Cars are making their second appearance also.
Spectator gates open at 3pm Saturday, with all women free and all children 12 and under also free.
