TOOWOOMBA RACERS IN LINE FOR SERIES PAYOUT!

The Toowoomba region boasts two racers in the top five as the Ultimate Sprintcars head into their Grand Final this Saturday at Hi-Tec Oils Speedway, Toowoomba.

Withcott’s Peter Lack sits in the second spot, just 8 points behind Gold Coast based leader, Robbie Farr, while Norwin raised Andrew Scheuerle sits in fourth, with a $10,500 prize pool on offer to the top three point scorers in the 7 round series.

“We won’t be settling for second,” Lack said, adding the old cliché, “second is just the first loser!” to his response to the question of if he will play it safe on Saturday to secure the runner up spot.

“We’re going for the top prize, that’s for sure, and there’s a 154 points up for grabs and Robbie is only 8 points ahead so that could all change very quickly."

Scheuerle’s chances of collecting some coins from the prize pool may have increased overnight with rumours that current third place sitter, Luke Oldfield will be unable to compete this weekend, launching Scheuerle into the very real possibility of a top three series finish.

“Whatever you do, don’t find an engine for Luke, please,” Scheuerle joked, savouring the prospect of a chance at the $6,000 first prize.

“That’s a shocker for Luke to miss out on a chance to race, because he’s well capable of taking it out but it certainly presents a good opportunity for us to sneak up on Lacky and Farr without having to leapfrog Luke, so we won’t be holding back!”

Joining the Ultimate Sprintcars will be the second and final appearance of the V8 Super Sedans at Toowoomba for the season, after a phenomenal round of racing on March 5 that witnessed three of the biggest names in the sport battling three wide for the lead for the majority of the race.
The very popular Legend Cars are making their second appearance also, and will welcome multiple entries from New South Wales to the event.

Spectator gates open at 3pm Saturday, with all women free and all children 12 and under also free.
