FIRED UP FARR IS FAST AND FURIOUS FOR TOOWOOMBA USC WIN

A fired up Robbie Farr turned Good Friday into a great one at Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway with victory in the first round of the Clayperview.com Easter Triple Challenge.

Farr bristled home in the USC #7 Cool to score $10,000 and narrowly defeat Luke Oldfield in the #36 Titan Garages entry in second place and Bryan Mann’s Driven Oil #16 machine.

Mann held down second place and looked set to mount a challenge on leader Farr but a stealthy move by Oldfield saw the positions reversed with only a handful of laps to go.

Mann slammed the wall hard on the back straight and was lucky not to DNF.

Farr could not be denied in front of them.

“This place has been really kind to me over the years, and this season in particular,” grinned the ECP Racing driver, “tonight we were fast pretty well from the get go and it translated into the win. The boys did a great job with the car. It’s a great way to start the Triple Challenge.”

Farr and Andrew Scheuerle had earlier in the night conducted a heated discussion after their first heat race appearance when the duo lined up together on the front row.

Debate raged over crowding on the start and both came away from the experience feeling that the other was at fault. Tempers flared and both recounted their points of view over the PA system with Toowoomba Speedway Manager Ben Bishop.

Farr was rarely seriously challenged in the 30-lap feature race however but the battles going on behind him were intense to say the least.

Andrew Scheuerle held on for fourth place at the chequers but slammed the turn one and two wall hard in the Ausdeck Patios & Roofing Cool where he was lucky not to roll as he strove to hold out a rapidly finishing Peter Lack.

Lack had come from virtually the rear of the field to finish right on Scheuerle’s bumper with a masterful drive in the #5 Lucas Oil Products GW Racing entry.

Mitchell Gee was similarly frantic in his Consol Racing #41 Maxim with his surge forward to finish sixth behind Lack - the duo had earlier sizzled through the field to almost make on to the podium.

“This track is awesome,” grinned Gee on a red light stoppage when Andrew Wright had unfortunately rolled over in turn three, “I can put this car anywhere and we can still go forward. It’s epic in here right now.”

Fellow teenager Lachlan McHugh was truly dynamic also in the Castrol Global Lubricants #23 leaving many drivers with significantly more experience struggling to stay up with him.

McHugh finished seventh just ahead of the battle ravaged #83 Horrell Motorsport Maxim of David Murcott who admitted during a stoppage ‘we’re out to lunch’ with the set up of the car.

Earlier in the night “Murky” had quick timed in qualifying and looked exceptionally quick in his heats.

South Australian teenager Jake Tranter made his Toowoomba debut memorable with a solid 9th place finish in the CW Wines #45 entry to edge out the always Toowoomba consistent Kevin Titman in tenth in the RHK J&J.
