Lack Fresh for $6k Firecracker 50!

USC Queensland point leader, Peter Lack believes his recent break from racing has made him even more hungry for another win at Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway.

The Withcott based “Will Power 500” winner made the agonising decision to sit out the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic and Australian Title to concentrate on running his team owner’s business, GW Racing, and despite missing being in the cockpit, feels he may be just a little fresher than his opponents next Saturday for the $6k to win, Firecracker 50

“I’ve been watching the Clay-per-View for all of the racing and wishing I was out there, but Graham (Erhart) hasn’t fully recovered yet from his knee operation and it’s just not fun racing without him. But as much as the guys like Robbie (Farr) Andrew (Scheuerle) Kevin (Titman) and Luke (Oldfield) Danny (Reidy) and the Consol boys will have a lot more laps under their belt than I will since we last raced at Toowoomba, I don’t reckon they’ll be as fired up as I will to get back in the car!”

“Those guys have been racing so much in the last three weeks that it will be like another day in the office when they come back next week for the Firecracker 50, but having said that, some of them have had some pretty tough nights and that can really mess with your confidence, whereas for me, I’m very relaxed, unstressed and just chomping at the bit to get back in a race car!”

Lack leads Robbie Farr by a slender 6 points in the USC Qld standings, with a further 18 back to Luke Oldfield on 562, while Andrew Scheuerle and Danny Reidy sit side by side on 544 points.

The Firecracker 50 will pay a handsome $6000 to win, and an impressive $500 to start the A-Main with even the B Main racers walking away with $200 to start, and already the nominations are growing with names that will make their first appearance for the season at Toowoomba, some of which have never raced on the high banked bull ring Nominations can be made at www.nominations.speedway.net.au. Gates open at 3pm with action from 5:30. Adults $25, Pensioners and students with ID $20, Juniors 13-15 years $15 and 12 and under free
